Part 3: Camp Baha at Rainbow Gatherings

It is important to read this Testament from the beginning. It begins here:

In 1987 I attended my first Rainbow Gathering. this is three years prior to my finding Bahana. It was a Thanksgiving regional at Fremont Peaks in Central California. It was truly a transformational experience. After several Western US Regionals, in 1989 I went to my first National Rainbow Gathering in Nevada. I was hooked on Rainbow. There were so many people I could relate with there. All my relations seemed to be there.

The next summer, July 1990, the National Rainbow Gathering was in Minnesota, Superior National Forest. I was there. One day, I was walking down the main trail on my way to Kid Village and the lake, when I saw some really cool charts displayed on the trail. There was a large image of the Great Pyramid and there was a large image of the Hopi Fire Clan tablet, which I recognized because I had seen it in Frank Waters, Book of the Hopi. Naturally, I stopped to have a look and ask some questions. The camp tent they had set up was a canvas cabin tent with a huge sun and rainbow painted on it. This was a BUPC coordinated teaching effort by Victor Woods and Kay Woods, Dave Cornell and Dawn Chase. I asked if they would explain the tablet to me, which they did beyond satisfaction. I remember them telling me that “Jesus is in Montana” and me saying: “I am looking for Bahana” and they said, “Bahana is in Montana, it is the same guy.” That was one of the most important instants of my life! I asked, “Does Bahana have a phone number, can I meet him?” Dawn Chase went to the tent and returned with a piece of scrap paper that read: Read the rest of this entry »

Bahai at 2013 Rainbow Gathering

rainbow2013    June-July 2013

When I heard it announced that the 2013 National Rainbow Gathering would be in    Montana… I knew for sure that I was going to be there. The same site was chosen as where the 2000 Gathering was held; a perfect, beautiful location.

I had been trying to hook up a gas share rider for a month before it started and at the last day, as I was leaving, my supposed rider backed out. Well crap. Even though I did not have enough gas money to make the round trip from Colorado I departed anyway. I made 1 stop in Grand Junction, to see if my 22 year friend and teaching collegue, Victor Woods, wanted to come. He was home. I said “if you can pack fast and light so we can be out of here in a couple hours… He was calculating in his head if he could leave for two weeks on short notice like that… Yes was the answer.

This was awesome. I was going to Montana alone to tell as many people at the Gathering, that had ears to hear, about the news from Western Colorado about the discovery of the prophecied Shambhala. Victor spent 6 months in 2012 researching and cracking the mystery of Shambhala. Victor had it so dialed in, he could point to the exact center of Shambhala on the map, with a pin!

We get to Montana, find the Gathering site easily, park, hike down in, scouted a super kind neighborhood to set up camp, right behind what became Crucial Kitchen (one of the best family food scenes ever!) and towards Kid Village (where I usually volunteer and shanti-sena from).

We hauled a big car battery down in there and a laptop and projector for a powerpoint show. We found a great meadow in line of site from Information Station and we built it! A huge movie screen. I figured that part out, a tautly strung tarp with a sheet affixed to the front of it, made a great movie screen. Put a big sign on it: Shambhala Theatre. Everyone in the gathering saw that theatre. We promoted Victors presentation for the next week. Here, have a look at the movie for yourself:

It certainly was a pleasure to see Kris Harrison (another Baha’i Scholar and teacher) and his wonderful wife Marielle show up at the gathering for a few choice days together. All in all, 2013 was a fantastic Rainbow Gathering and another tremendously successful teaching effort; another Baha’i victory.

2011 National Rainbow Gathering Review

This year, 2011, the National Rainbow Gathering was in Washington State about 30 miles Southeast of Mt. Saint Helen’s. It was an excellent gathering. There may have been 15,000 to 20,000 people throughout the two weeks of Gathering. I was there solo this year so I had no assistance to build a Camp Baha. But I was able to give two presentations. 2008 Wyoming National Rainbow Gathering

This year my son asked if we could go to the National Rainbow Gathering, since it was just one state away. So we went. We set up a camp at Kid Village and plugged in helping the kitchen and organic community that was happening there. Every thing was super chipper. But on July 3rd, there was an incident in Kid Village. Every person at that Gathering  was peaceably assembled as guaranteed their right by the first Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America! Read the rest of this entry »
