Baha’u'llah’s Prophecy of 9-11
Baha’u'llah knew that 9-11 was going to happen. He foretold of the event in this Verse:
The world is in travail, and its agitation waxeth day by day. Its face is turned towards waywardness and unbelief. Such shall be its plight, that to disclose it now would not be meet and seemly. Its perversity will long continue. And when the appointed hour is come, there shall suddenly appear that which shall cause the limbs of mankind to quake. Then, and only then, will the Divine Standard be unfurled, and the Nightingale of Paradise warble its melody. (Baha’u'llah: Gleanings, Pages: 118-119)
9-11 was that “appointed hour” which would “cause the limbs of mankind to quake.”
But the real question should be, what is the Divine Standard that was unfurled?
You can see the Divine Standard here.
Peace

Hi,
I am a bit baffled by your interpetation of the Baha’u’llah’s verse indicating that 9-11 was that “appointed hour”. He never said that, and you are just taking it out of its context. Please respond.
Many thanks, and I love your fate. It is an admiration for ALL.

How on earth do you find in such a vague verse the idea that it prophezies 9-11? Its so vague you could read anything into it

For starters Dave, Would you agree that 9-11 did “cause the limbs of mankind to quake”?

Good day,
I must agree that the ‘limbs of mankind quaked’ on that day in 2001. The whole world was awaken to the fact that our planet is in jeopardy to violence not peace we all seek personally. The negatives of disunity occured, and not the unity of mankind that Baha’u'llah always emphasized. It was the beginning of mankinds witness to leaders who had material gains to be made from wars. The positives that Baha’u'llah emphasized were rejected by mankind. It is truly judgement day for mankind, and we continue in our erring ways. Shame on us. The unfurling of Baha’u'llahs credentials as Manifestation of God must be recognized before this planet becomes ‘the kingdom of God’ on Earth. It starts with each and everyone. Where do you stand?

Fred, its easier to explain this point for point rather than write a whole long essay about it. I think Peace was trying to get a dialog going about this subject. That wasn’t exactly an explanation, was it? Have you looked at the link he posted?
Al, thanks for the uplifting insight. I absolutely agree with everything you’ve expressed.

Hi !
To me the two world wars can refer to the baha’i writings. If not, we have to wait for something worse. Shoghi Effendi said after the seconde world war that nuclear weapons will be used again (after hiroshima and nagasaki).
The american history is a part of the humanity history. If the american nation has woke up the 9-11 and feel that they are a part of the humanity it’s a good thing, but the 9-11 tragedy is deeply far from the millions of death during those two world wars. Surely the American nation has known war on its land for the first time and the population felt vulnerable for the first time, and this is the reason why such comparasion are made…
The extreme vulnerability felt during those two wars each nation on their land can be a proper comparaison.
Before thinking about the 9-11 events, try to think about the vulnerability of the Darfour nation, or the Rwanda one, and all the nation in which million of people has died, after the two wars and after the 9-11.
9-11 has had a great mediatic impact. I don’t think that Baha’u'llah’s words refers to such a consideration.
9-11, for the american nation, is just an extract of what the population of iraq and all the contries in war can feel.
I think the comparaison is not realy serious, because it would mean that le 9-11 events are the ultimate expression of frightness. Me and the Rwanda nation for exemple shouldn’t be able to agree.
Please try to keep Baha’u'llah writings far from the taliban’s hobbies. When Baha’u'llah prophecies the two world war in his proclamation the king of Berlin, he did not even use the words “which shall cause the limbs of mankind to quake” but “lamentation”. If the “lamentaions” symoblise the wars, i find it difficult to imagine something that cause the limbs of mankind to quake.

Did not the cry of ‘War on Terror’ impact and effect the opinion of the whole world after 9/11? Will not WWIII be its eventual continuation? Does not mass communication make this event and all others more forceful and meaningful? Is fear not the ultimate aim and purpose? Did not 9/11 open the door to negatives and the evils of mankind? There is no doubt that there are other parts of our world also in travail ie wars, earthquakes, genocide, climate. We continue in disbelief that all of these evils whether natural or otherwise are happening and continue to happen. We are all in this together, but we certainly don’t live this life as such. Our unity is found in the Words of Baha’u'llah and His lineage so happen was unfurled on 9/11. It is not difficult to see that 9/11 changed our world as we knew it in so many ways. What will we do about it as the events continue to unfold? Love one another, treat others with respect, and eliminate fear and prejudices in our own lives are good places to start. Peace! Don’t leave this world without it!

Maybe your right Al C. As things are now, I would love to leave this world. I think that when I am so blessed, I will leave this world with love too. Good advice Al.

911 caused the limbs of New Yorkers to quake. The rest of the world went to work the next day. A pilgrim asked Shoghi Effendi about this quote, and he said that this is referring to a catastrophic event that will happen in the future that will wipe out much of the population of the planet. Devastated, manking will have to rebuild civilization, and the Baha’is will lead the way. In the process the new world order will be established… It is a pilgrim’s note, but still, it does seem to make sense. I can’t see the world turning to God without an event on that scale. Just my opinion.

If you would look at the american prophecies of the indian, you could see the end. When Lesser Arabia attacks Persia the world would not take much notice, this would turn into something bigger, the world would still not pay attention, this was desert storm. Something bigger would take place and the world would take notice. This was the invasion of Iraq by the United States. All this was to happen right before the third shaking of the world. It’s a small wonder that New York was called the city of the Covenant. When God flooded the earth with water, he made a covenant with the people that he would never flood the earth again and he put the rainbow in the sky as a reminder of the promise, the next time he would come with fire. Bigger things are coming our way as this war in the middle east drags on. As Mohammid was said to throw his dagger and cleft the moon in half, the shuites and sunnies were fortold, brother would be killing brother, as we now see.
