142-Year-Old Man discovered!
Headline: 142-Year-Old Man discovered!
How likely is it that you would believe such a headline?
If a man was born in 1855, in 2007, he would be 142! Do the math. Believe!
OK, there is a catch … the man is no longer alive.
He was “discovered” in a cemetery.
In a similar manner, thousands of seemingly intelligent people have been fooled.
See if you can detect the catch in this scenario:
Each quote is from the same man from the same document which is his Will and Testament.
“And now, concerning the House of Justice which God hath ordained as the source of all good and freed from all error, it must be elected by universal suffrage, that is, by the believers.”
Are the believers the only persons composing this House of Justice?
“By this body all the difficult problems are to be resolved and the Guardian of the Cause of God is its sacred head and the distinguished member for life of that body. Should he not attend in person its deliberations, he must appoint one to represent him.”
Did you find the catch? The Guardian is a member for life.
When the Guardian is dead, he can’t attend in person.
Before he is dead, he must appoint some one to represent him.
When walking through a cemetery, you may discover a 142-year-old man.
When examining a sect of the Baha’i faith, you may discover they have a House of Justice without a living Guardian. The blessed and infallible Shoghi Effendi (who was the Guardian) died in 1957.
So what?
“It is incumbent upon . . . the Hands of the Cause of God to show their obedience, submissiveness and subordination unto the Guardian of the Cause of God, to turn unto him and be lowly before him. He that opposeth him hath opposed the True One,”
Why would Baha’i’s risk opposing God trying to interpret that they still have a Guardian?
Doesn’t the Will and Testament quoted above indicate the Guardian must be alive?
I think Baha’i’s have been hoodwinked by the Hands who do not want to be subordinate to a Guardian.
I think the Hands have made up a theology they like better than to be obedient to a Guardian.
I think the Hands don’t encourage people to read the Will and Testament for themselves.
I think a Baha’i sect without a living Guardian is a covenant-breaking sect.
“What deviation can be greater than breaking the Covenant of God! What deviation can be greater than interpolating and falsifying the words and verses of the Sacred Text,”
(All quotes taken from ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s Will and Testament which can be found on page 140 of the pdf found at http://www.bupc.org/Most-Mighty-Document.pdf)
I encourage you to read his will and verify that the quotes above are indeed those of ‘Abdul-Baha.

I think you’re being very generous here Colin. You’re letting the Hands off easy with your wording. I guess this is a public forum, though.
I think it’s a little too conservative to say “thousands of seemingly intelligent people have been fooled” only because the Baha’i World Faith claims membership numbers of 5+ million believers. That’s a lot of confused people. I don’t think most of them know. There have now been 2 new generations of Baha’is to crop up since this gross violation that the Hands perpetrated. It has somehow been swept under the rug. Baha’u'llah’s Revelation is so beautiful that it attracts all who come near it, and I think that the light of it overpowers some of these smaller details like the succession of leadership. These are very important matters as you point out. It is no small thing to let the matters of the Faith be taken over by pirates while idly standing by basking in the glow of this beautiful Revelation.

I am starting this comment with a personal declaration - I am ignorant and it is bliss! I don’t know the politically correct history nor current structural/operational issues of the Faith … I have read many of the writings - MANY!
I just get this gut awful feeling the “religion” of Bahia has fallen as miss-directed as the “religion” called Christianity. Stuck are a people on dogma/doctrine/structure/interpretation…the who’s on first -second-third game of ignorance in the circle of bases.
IF one professes the Cause of the only significant power, God; then within the hearts of them, are the keys of knowledge…a personal relationship and only God Himself so determines. And shall I say to be redundant…INDIVIDUAL! One that does the independent research and speaks to God in ongoing prayer for clarity of though and meaning. Not to a guardian – a man.
Yes, you have a structure…but is it so important to debate the order and forget the feast of the message for simply OURSELVES? For are we not liken unto a lighthouse? Should we be only nourished by the messenger’s God has sent and the never waiving oneness of the message through time? Should we not be prayerfully vessels that the very nourishment we receive radiates to the sustaining wonder of truth- that shines from us as a beacon to all races/nationalities/color/gender/age? One neighbor..one friend…one on one by God’s planting and watering?
Why be divided? Why slice a pie and hang onto a piece? Why get stuck and so slain by who/what and where that you veil the very universal balance foretold by Bahaullah Himself?
Perhaps the disappearance of a “line” or “protocol” of who is this or that is exactly the underlying way it is to be? How can a world become “universally” in sync with one another, if the fraction of all religions and denominations within can’t be “ONE”? Maybe the passing of leadership was meant to fall…again redundant —– are all of God’s chosen that seek His truth, not equal in stance before Him?
No I won’t quote a single writing or scripture or belief…for to me…the understanding and “being” and “sharing” are paramount to the agendas and titles of man.
God is my all..not a guardian..not a pastor…not a friendship…not a spouse…not any human…God and God alone…and yes, from Catholic to Methodist to 7th Day Adventist…God and God alone has brought me to the understanding I now so cherish to grow by His Will and my devotion to Him…not a structure or name –save His.

Carrie Christine, you raise quite a few relevant insights. Who could question such heart-based statements? We do indeed need to be constantly reminding ourselves that it is God who deserves our attention, love, and devotion. Indeed religion has been the culprit of dividing God’s children, when it’s intent was to unite (religion is actually from the Latin religio: ‘to unite’).
There are two separate issues that you seem to be forming as one and the same. Maybe you’re not aware that the Baha’i Faith is not an organized religion, so therefore shouldn’t be lumped together with those that are. Meaning that although there are ones charged with the secular dealings of the Faith, matters of Spirit are between the individuals and God. Unlike most other theologies, there are no clergy, priests, or Popes-like figures in the Faith. The issues being raised by the author of this thread have to do with how the secular is organized. And that has been delineated by Baha’u'llah himself. For the first time in the history of the world we have an administrative order and succession directly from the Pen of God. To go against the Explicit Instructions, which we believe is now the case, is to wax haughty against God Himself.
Christine no one here would take issue with your heart-felt eulogy. But it’s clear you’re unaware of the fact that there is a clearly defined Administration that has been usurped by power grabbing, self-serving thieves. This is an issue of great importance to those who DO wish to serve and protect this Cause, and not just eat of it’s fruits as many bystanders choose to do.

Thanks to the personal responses to my comments. Yet, to set the fog of lack of writing skills..let me assure you I do know the structure of the faith. I DO KNOW the lack of pulsating ignornace from clergy etc. I do fully see the dictates from Bahaulla to date and the road traveled by the Faith.
I will neither debate nor converse the writings..that is NOT the intent of Bahaulla nor should it be to any other person, group or leadership be by any name.
I simply say: Hypocracy is evil. It shakes the ORIGINAL foundations sweep into this world by the very messengers God has bleesed our faithfullness to HIM. Messanges endowed with a message…should we so be inclined to hear….blessed with understanding should we be so inclined to thirst…blessed with eyes to see the events around us that the messanger has fortold and warmed, if we be so inclined to look.
In the 70’s there was a song called Time Passages. I have no clue the lines nor subject..for they matter not. What strick my heart, is the thought! Ponder is you dare.
I know some of your prime teachers of time. I know their influence and I have spent years listening. No names please…simply a point to my post. They are men and they are corrupt, immoral and speack their own interpretations. AND this Jeff and Colin is my plea…let the faithful ACT the faith. In acting from a fully devoted heart more can plant to united than the countless “junk” that comes from the months still not partaking of the milk…….all personal and all their thoughts…not the message from Bahaulla…not the sharing by “BEING”…simply echos of ignorance and sheels of human blunder within.
